Facts About Glutathione

Now let’s discuss about one of the most popular antioxidant supplements today- the Glutathione. This supplement is in form of tablet, capsule, sublingual, intramuscular injection, intravenous or thru inhalation. The most enticing side effects, which is the common beliefs nowadays is the lightening of the skin. This is very popular among Asians who want to lighten or even whitens their skin. Before we discuss the side effects, we will discuss first what Glutathione is.

What is Glutathione?
Glutathione is a molecule made up of amino acids. It is naturally made by the human body, and it is also available as a dietary supplement. People claim these supplements are useful for treating and/or preventing a variety of conditions, including (but not limited to): cataracts, glaucoma, alcoholism, asthma, cancer, heart disease, liver disease, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, Lung cancer and Chemotherapy toxicity. People also claim that they are useful for slowing the aging process and for whitening the skin.

How does Glutathione Works?
It works as an antioxidants and preventing free radicals which cause cell damages. It is also important in making DNA, proteins and other substances in the body. It helps metabolize toxins and carcinogens (cancer-causing compounds) and is important for immune function. The body can make its own glutathione in the liver, and some foods (fruits, vegetables, and meats) contain it. However, studies seem to suggest that it may not be well absorbed when taken by mouth (either as food or as a dietary supplement).

What are the side-effects of Glutathione?
At this time, there are no known glutathione side effects. However, this does not guarantee that glutathione does not cause side effects; it simply means that no negative side effects with glutathione have been reported, either in clinical studies or in case reports. Now, on the positive side: those people or manufacturers claiming that Glutathione can lighten our skins have no scientific basis and/or no clinical studies made on this. It is advise that by taking Glutathione, it is not 100% sure that your skin will be lighten or your dark skin will be whitens. Be careful and be sure that when buying or taking Glutathione, your main purpose is to detoxify your body or for the treatment of diseases mentioned above. If not, you are ending in frustrations of the results you are expecting to come out with our body (the skin). I hope this will give you ideas before taking any supplements like Glutathione.

Please feel free to make any reaction/s or comment/s about your own experiences on Glutathione. Thank you!
